According to data released by the Border Port Authority, Mongolia planned to export a total of 101.8 million tonnes of mining products in 2026. As of September 23, the country had exported 92.7 million tonnes, reaching 91.8% of the full-year target, marking a positive performance.
In particular, Mongolia planned to export a total of 90 million tonnes of coal this year. As of the reporting date, 84 million tonnes had been exported, representing 94% of the annual target.
Meanwhile, crude oil exports have reached 63.7% of the annual target. Of the 3.8 million barrels of crude oil planned for export this year, 2.4 million barrels had been exported as of September 23.
Copper concentrate exports have exceeded the annual target, with 1.9 million tonnes planned for export and the target already 101% fulfilled.
Iron ore exports, however, stood at 70% of the annual target. Mongolia planned to export 9.4 million tonnes of iron ore this year, of which 6.5 million tonnes had been exported as of September 23.
By border crossing, export performance against the annual targets was as follows:
- Gashuunsukhait border crossing: 77.7%
- Shiveekhuren border crossing: 83.6%
- Khankhi border crossing: 103%
- Bichigt border crossing: 59.5%
- Bulgan border crossing: 63%
- Zamiin-Uud border crossing: 64%
- Khavirga border crossing: 46.8%
Overall, Mongolia has already achieved 91.8% of its 2026 annual mining export target as of September 23, with coal and copper concentrate exports showing particularly strong performance.
